A couple of weeks ago I wrote a blog about the growth taking place with our neighbors at City Park. Delgado has also seen a lot of expansion taking place at the City Park Campus and also at other sites and locations throughout the area. Here are a few projects that are underway:
Sidney Collier Site:
After suffering severe damage caused by Hurricane Katrina, the Sidney Collier Site is finally being rebuilt with $12 million provided by the State of Louisiana and $9 million through FEMA. The site is located on Louisa Street in Eastern New Orleans.
Learning Resource Center Annex:
Located next to Building 1 on the City Park Campus, this new building will be home to the Digital Media Program and the Center for Entrepreneurship. With state-of-the-art conference rooms, computer labs, green screen/live action studio, sound isolation booth and computerized classroom with business simulator software, this center will provide resources for tomorrow’s digital enterprises and entrepreneurs.
Marvin E. Thames Sr. Learning Resource Center:
This new learning resource center will replace the Moss Memorial Library that was destroyed by floodwaters during Hurricane Katrina. The 60,000-square-foot, one-story learning resource center will be located on the City Park Campus.
New Orleans Culinary and Hospitality Institute (NOCHI):
In February the NOCHI purchased the former Louisiana ArtWorks building located at Howard Avenue in New Orleans for culinary training, research and development. The Institute integrates existing and new programs at Delgado Community College, the University of New Orleans and Tulane University.
Delgado Northshore Annex:
With the recent growth at Delgado Northshore in Slidell, the College acquired additional building adjacent to the existing building. The 7,490-square-foot facility was acquired in January and will be home to new labs, classrooms, and office space.
