When Billy Joel was in town for the Jazz Fest earlier this year, he stopped by the Carousel Bar & Lounge and played a song for a hundred or so lucky people. Last night, another rock legend Robert Plant played in front of a much smaller and intimate crowd at BJ’s Lounge in the Bywater. A couple of fans used their smartphones to video his performance and uploaded it to youtube:
Nola.com also posted some nice pictures of the performance on their website. We should feel fortunate to live in a community with such a rich musical history that international stars like Plant and Joel spend more than a day here. In most cities, these rock icons would fly in, perform, and fly out of town. But they have such a passion and respect for the music that comes out of New Orleans, that they will pop up at one of the many music clubs to connect with the community.
