Last Friday’s ceremonial groundbreaking for the new Sidney Collier Campus brought out State and City dignitaries, our System and College leadership, faculty and staff, and members of the community. One surprise guest was Mr. Levi Lewis, who drove in from a small town close to the Mississippi state line to join in the festivities and celebrate the return of Sidney Collier, a campus he served as an instructor for many years prior to retiring. Mr. Lewis fondly remembers the original campus and how it served the surrounding area. I captured a little of Mr. Lewis’ sentiment in a quick, iPhone interview. Maybe you’ll recognize him?
Friday, April 26, 2013 is now one for the history books as we marked the occasion with ceremony, speeches, and photo ops. Mr. Lewis will always be a part of Sidney Collier and we look forward to welcoming him back in about a year for the ribbon cutting to open the new campus.
